Clear the app cache first — on Android, go to settings, find the app in your installed list, and tap clear cache. On iOS, delete and reinstall the app entirely since there's no native cache-clearing option. Make sure your app version is current; Deliveroo pushes updates frequently, and older versions often break against newer server-side changes.
This usually comes down to three things:
Card declines at checkout are rarely a Deliveroo problem. Your bank's fraud detection triggers on food delivery platforms more often than people expect, especially for new cards or first-time orders. Call your bank or approve the transaction through your banking app if you get a push notification. Alternatively, add a PayPal account or a different card as a fallback payment method in your profile settings.
The live tracking map relies on a persistent connection. If it freezes, force-close the app and reopen it — don't just background it. On a weak mobile signal, tracking updates can stall for several minutes without actually being broken. Switch to Wi-Fi if possible.
This is almost always a slow or unstable connection issue. The app loads menu images lazily, so a dropped connection mid-scroll leaves placeholders. Toggle your Wi-Fi off and on, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to force a reconnect. If photos consistently fail, the CDN serving that content may have a temporary hiccup — waiting ten minutes usually resolves it.
If the Deliveroo website times out, try a different browser or switch from mobile data to a fixed connection. Some browser extensions, particularly aggressive ad blockers or privacy tools, break the checkout flow. Disable extensions temporarily and reload. If the site loads but actions like adding items don't respond, your browser cache is likely serving stale scripts — clear it and refresh.
