If the app freezes on launch or closes immediately, start by checking whether your device meets the minimum OS requirements. Smart-ID requires a reasonably current version of Android or iOS. Clear the app cache through your device settings, then restart the phone. If the problem persists, uninstall the app completely and reinstall it from the official store. Avoid installing it from third-party sources.
This usually comes down to push notification settings. Go to your phone settings, find the app in the notifications section, and make sure notifications are fully enabled. Also check that battery saver or do-not-disturb mode isn't blocking incoming alerts. A weak mobile signal or unstable Wi-Fi connection can delay or drop the request entirely — switching between mobile data and Wi-Fi often resolves it.
The issue is often on the bank's side rather than with the authentication app itself. Try refreshing the banking session and initiating the login again from scratch. Make sure the time and date on your phone are set automatically — a mismatch can cause the confirmation to fail silently. If the bank app itself is behaving oddly, clear its cache or reinstall it.
Smart-ID certificates have a limited validity period. When one expires, authentication stops working across all connected services. Open the app and check the certificate status in the account section. You'll need to renew it through a supported bank branch or via the self-service portal if your bank allows remote renewal. Some banks let you do this entirely within their own app.
High latency during the confirmation step is almost always a network issue. Run a quick speed test to check your connection quality. If you're on mobile data with a weak signal, move to a better coverage area or connect to Wi-Fi. Restarting the router can also help if your home network is the bottleneck.
